Starvox Corp. has released a voice-over-IP trunking application that is slated to expand the pool of IP telephony service providers and lower costs for enterprise IP users.

The San Jose, Calif., companys VOIP Business Trunking product allows broadband service providers to become IP-based telephony carriers without having to buy Class 5 switches.

The offering includes a virtual private network capable of merging legacy time division multiplexing-based and IP-based PBX systems from different vendors—a particularly attractive feature for multisite businesses that want to maintain a seamless system with private network dialing capabilities as they upgrade to VOIP.

Enterprise users can expect to see lower monthly access fees through the bundling of voice and data, which also simplifies network management. Also, StarVoxs VOIP toll-bypass features lower businesses long-distance costs.
