MANAGEMENT

Netiq Corp. last week continued to add breadth and depth to Windows-based application management in a major new release of its AppManager suite.

Version 4.0 adds performance monitoring for six programs and provides a tool that allows operators to perform more sophisticated analysis of application performance issues.

Version 4.0 can monitor and manage IBMs MQSeries messaging middleware, Microsoft Corp.s Commerce Server 2000 and Exchange 2000 Conferencing Server, Check Point Software Technology Ctd.s firewalls, and Trend Micro Inc.s ScanMail. In addition, the suite includes a Web services module that can monitor e-business transactions.

The San Jose, Calif., company added bidirectional communication between AppManager and Micromuse Inc.s Netcool Omnibus manager of managers. The upgrade is free for customers with maintenance contracts. The software is priced at $600 per agent and $2,500 per server console. The optional reporting module is $150 per server.
