Gateway Inc. continued the realignment of its executive team this week, naming four people to general manager positions within the company.

John Engel, a former executive vice president at PerkinElmer Inc.—a technology company in the life sciences space—and Scott Weinbrandt, a longtime executive with Dell Computer Corp., were named general managers of Gateways desktop PCs and server units, respectively.

Monica Gout, formerly a vice president of business solutions at Gap Inc. Direct, will be the Poway, Calif., companys general manager of e-commerce. In addition, William Parker, a senior vice president for Banana Republic stores, was named president and general manager of Gateways chain of 272 retail stores.

Earlier this month, Gateway announced that Joe Formichelli, a 30-year industry veteran who has been vice president of worldwide systems operations at IBM and vice president and general manager of Toshibas Computer Systems Group, is the companys new executive vice president of operations.

In addition, David Turner, the companys senior vice president of sales and marketing, was tagged to lead Gateways business segment, while T. Scott Edwards, most recently senior vice president of Sony Electronics Inc.s consumer marketing division, was named executive vice president of Gateways consumer business.

The appointments come as Gateway prepares to announce earnings on Wednesday. Company officials earlier this month said they expected Gateway to post a greater fourth-quarter loss than previously expected, due in large part to disappointing holiday sales. They had previously had predicted revenues of $1.2 billion, but said Jan. 8 that they now expect revenues to come in around $1.06 billion.
