The survey found 90 percent would take pride in the books or comic books they read, and 77 percent in the video games they play.
Pull Those Superman PJs Out of the Closet
Holy cape crusader, Batman. A majority of self-described geeks—65 percent—said they would haul out their superhero or cartoon character clothing, including pajamas, to impress someone.
Some Still Sneak Their Geek
While the vast majority (87 percent) of survey respondents don’t hide their nerdiness, 13 percent still keep their geek idols out of sight, most commonly from neighbors and co-workers.
From Spiderman Shirts to Smart Glasses
A majority (61 percent) of self-described geeks say they would consider purchasing or wearing a smartwatch, and 56 percent would consider purchasing or wearing smart glasses.
Revenge of the Nerds
Public perception of geeks continues to improve year over year; 58 percent of Americans define geeks as extremely intelligent.
But Lose the Glasses, KTHXBAI
Despite the growing geek love, negative stereotypes persist. Only 34 percent of respondents say they associate geeks with being good looking.
Geeks Are Attached to Their Tech
Attachment to smartphones, high-speed Internet and computers is nearly twice as high among geeks as it is among non-geeks. And let’s not even get into Apple versus Android, thanks.
I Can Haz Laughter? No Can Haz.
Nearly three-fourths (74 percent) of self-described geeks say they think geeks are funny, compared with only 53 percent of non-geeks. Lolz.
Take Me to Your Leader, Baby
Being a geek isn’t preventing love connections, as 68 percent of all respondents say they would date a geek.
Geeks Have Got the Goods
Of the positive characteristics survey respondents associated with geeks, 76 percent said they were hard working, 67 percent said they were loyal, and 58 percent said they were confident.
