At the recent consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Microsoft Corp. demonstrated computing devices based on embedded Windows CE, including new products from Hitachi Ltd., Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Siemens AG, Abocom, DigMedia Inc. and Smart Media Ltd.

Hitachis Wearable Internet Appliance is a headset that lets users surf the Internet from the comfort of their own craniums. Samsungs iZZi Web Pad is a tablet-size Internet access computer, as are Siemens Gigaset 4600 SimPad and Abocoms InfoPilot MA 1000.

DigMedias DigRadio provides Internet radio reception for AM and FM stations in the United States and Europe. Smart Medias DDL Player also is an Internet radio appliance.

The darling of the show was Microsofts XBox game console, which propels the company into an industry that may surpass the motion picture industry in the next few years, at least in terms of revenue.

XBox includes an Intel Corp. 733MHz processor, an Nvidia Corp. graphics card and an 8GB hard drive, which means gamers dont have to load a new cartridge every time they play.
