Cingular Wireless on Tuesday expanded its e-mail access portfolio with a new application that sits behind the corporate firewall.

Cingular Xpress GoodLink Edition is designed to work with Microsoft Corp.s Exchange server and provides wireless access to the data included in Microsoft Outlook—e-mail and attachments, calendar information, contacts and to-do lists.

Available in June, it will run on devices such as Research in Motion Ltd.s RIM BlackBerry handheld devices.

GoodLink Edition is based on the GoodLink software from Good Technology Inc., a Sunnyvale, Calif., startup that competes with RIM in the wireless server space. Cingular already offers RIMs BlackBerry edition, which offers similar functions.

But beyond integration with the Exchange server, GoodLink includes the “GoodInfo” system, which enables access to Web-based corporate applications and intranets. Developers can create GoodInfo Applications in minutes using basic Web standards such as XML, CGI (common gateway interface) and HTTP.

Good plans to release its own wireless e-mail device, the G100, this summer.
