Google Mobile App for iPhone Brings Voice Searchby eWEEK Labs
Google Voice Search

Google Mobile App for iPhone integrates voice search, which can be activated by pressing the microphone symbol on-screen—or simply moving the phone to your ear and waiting for the tone.
Intro Video

The application leads users immediately to a YouTube video that shows how to use the new features.
Voice Processing

The application visually and audibly prompts the user to begin speaking, then processes speech into text, letting users know if they need to try again.
Localized Findings

The Google Mobile App asks for permission to detect the user’s location, then shows relevant local results for the search.
Hit or Miss

Speech recognition was pretty good with natural language, but hit or miss with proper names. Missed here were “Agito Networks” and “eWEEK Magazine.”
Links to Google Apps

Google Mobile App for iPhone includes links to many other Google services, including YouTube and the ever-useful Google Maps. This allowed me to only keep the Google App icon on the main screen tool bar for quick access.
Settings

From the Settings tab, I could easily turn off voice searches.
