Using what Sony calls a “Surf Slider mechanism,” the Duo 11 can transition from an untraditional but powerful laptop into a tablet with a scratch-resistant 11.6-inch touch display. Pricing will start at $1,099.99.

Sony calls the Tap 20 a tabletop PC. It features a 20-inch display with 10-point touch capabilities, a Sony Mobile Bravia Engine 2, for incredible picture quality, and a stand that enables it to transition from upright to flat and several options in between.

Along with the expected apps, the Tap 20 comes with ArtRange Studio, which offers tools like oil paints and watercolors, and My Daily Clip, a mobile trivia game for up to four players that takes advantage of the display’s ability to lie flat. Pricing starts at $879.99, and the Tap 20 will come in choices of black and white.


Sony Vaio T Series

Sony announced it has made its popular T Series Ultrabook available with a touch display, so users can more fully take advantage of the touch-savvy Windows 8. The option of an optical drive with support for DVDs and Blu-ray is now also available in a T14 Ultrabook.

Sony’s E Series line now includes a touch-screen-equipped 14P model with the Vaio’s diamond-cut logo, as well as an E17 with a 17-inch full HD display and a quad-core processor. Also available in 11-, 14- and 15-inch models, the laptops feature backlit keyboards and Radeon graphics from Advanced Micro Devices.

Also joining the ranks of Windows 8-running Sony Vaios is a 13-inch S Series notebook—made of lightweight magnesium, aluminum and carbon fiber—in Burgundy Red.

With a flip of its display, the Dell XPS 12 transforms from an Intel-powered laptop into a tablet with a full HD display that, according to Dell, provides 90 percent more pixels than the standard HD display. Pricing begins at $1,199.99.

The One 27 features a 27-inch Wide Quad HD display, said to feature 78 percent more pixels than a full HD display. The display tilts to 60 degrees, and the machine is designed to take up minimal space on countertops or desks.
