MPC Computers LLC on Wednesday rolled out two servers designed to pack traditional performance into a smaller form factor.

The rack-mounted NetFrame 1610 and 2610 servers offer up to two Intel Corp. Xeon chips, integrated dual-channel U320 SCSI controllers and embedded RAID mirroring capabilities. The 1610 comes in a 1U, or 1.75-inch-thick, design, the 2610 in a 2U (3.5-inch) form factor.

The Xeon chips, which run up to 2GHz, offer 512KB of memory cache and a 533MHz front-side bus. The servers from MPC—formerly MicronPC—can ship with Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2000 Advanced Server operating systems, but also can run other OSes, according to the Nampa, Idaho, company.

Both are available immediately, with prices starting at $2,299 for the 1U 1610 and $2,499 for the 2U 2610.
