E.piphany Inc. is adding sales force automation and portal technologies to its line of CRM offerings.

The customer relationship management software provider last week said it had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Moss Software Inc. and had purchased the intellectual property of Radnet Inc.

Moss, of Irvine, Calif., is the maker of ActiveSales, a sales force automation package, and ActiveEnterprise, a CRM package. The 8-year-old company has more than 100 customers, ranging from midsize to large enterprises. Many of its customers are in financial services and high tech.

Radnet was a Cambridge, Mass., startup formed in 1995 by former Lotus Development Corp. executives and technologists. It developed a groupware application development platform called WebShare, which was intended to compete with Lotus Domino, but the software never caught on in the marketplace.

Better communication

The company joined with IBM last March to create Component Knowledge, a Web-based sales portal service based on Radnets PortalworkX technology, to improve communication between sales representatives and component suppliers.

E.piphany officials, in San Mateo, Calif., said the acquisitions will complement the companys current product development plans, which include the rollout of a robust Java 2 Enterprise Edition architecture, interenterprise collaboration capabilities and intelligent sales applications with full support for connected, mobile and wireless users.
