Taiwan-based computer maker MSI announced it will be adding two new laptops to its X-Slim series in the second quarter of 2009, a 14-inch X-Slim X400 and a 15-inch X-Slim X600.
Each very MacBook Air-like laptop is under an inch thick and features a 16:9 LED screen, full I/O ports and Blu-Ray support.
The X400 comes with a Li-poly battery and weighs in at 3.3 pounds, while the X600, which comes with a discrete graphics card for an optimized visual experience, weighs 4.6 pounds.
The two new additions to the MSI notebook lineup follow the X-Slim 320 and 340, and the Wind U123, which was on view at the CTIA Wireless 2009 event in early April, and is the first MSI model to offer a 3G solution and a TV tuner. Also inside is Intel’s Atom 1.66GHz N280 processor.
The X400 is available with an optional 8-cell long-endurance battery, while the X600 will has the option of a similar 9-cell battery. Like the other X-Slim notebooks, both new offerings are compatible with external ODD drivers.
Engadget reports that each also features a Core 2 Solo CULV processor, an HDMI jack, a hard disk up to 500 GB, up to 4GB of DDR2 memory and 2-in-1 card memory reader, and estimates starting prices between $699 and $1,100.
