Quark is making QuarkXPress 7, its desktop-publishing package, available as a universal application for the Mac OS x 10.4 Tiger.
The QuarkXPress 7.01 update is available at no cost for Macintosh users of QuarkXPress 7.0. The Denver, Colo., company said the update is available as of Aug. 7.
QuarkXPress can run on both Intel-based and PowerPC-based Macs.
Quark announced on May 22 that it was releasing QuarkXPress 7, the first update to its QuarkXPress graphic layout program in two years.
With the release, Quark signaled that it was attempting to rejoin the desktop publishing battle with Adobe.
Quark has been losing market share to Adobe, of San Jose, Calif., ever since Adobe unveiled its InDesign software in 1999.
QuarkXPress 7 is available through resellers and at the Quark online store for $749 for new users and $249 for upgrades.
The QuarkXPress 7.01 update is available through the companys Web site.
The announcement from Quark comes on the same day Apple unveiled several new and updated products at its Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco.
