Moscone West is already roiling with mobile aficionados, gathered in San Francisco for CTIA. The expo opens later, but the contestant devices and applications that are vying for “hottest of CTIA 2010” were on display. Here’s a sneak peek at my “top ten” from the 40 or so contestants.

The Motorola Droid X, reviewed

by my Lab colleague Andrew Garcia, is a souped up smartphone with a 4.3-inch display, 1GHz processor and an 8-megapixel camera. You can get more advice about Android apps for enterprise users here.

The Samsung Fascinate, a 2.1 Android smartphone with a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display with a Samsung 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird Application processor and a 5.0 megapixel camera was on display, along with an HTC EVO 4. The HTC EVO 4G is a 3G/4G Android handset with a focus on performance and multimedia experience.

CTIA has been branded the “Enterprise and Application” show, which fits nicely with the idea of the “enterprization of consumer applications and devices.” This is an area of intense interest among the editorial staff at eWEEK Labs as we track the appearance of enterprise workloads onto mobile handsets.
