Data security solutions specialist Imperva announced enhancements to SecureSphere Database Activity Monitoring 9.5, a database audit and protection solution, and released Scuba by Imperva 2.0, a free database vulnerability scanner. SecureSphere version 9.5 is currently available, with pricing starting at $25,000.
SecureSphere Database Activity Monitoring 9.5 offers upgraded and enhanced capabilities to help small and midsize businesses (SMBs) protect data warehouses, with support for Oracle Exadata and extended support for Teradata Database and Sybase IQ data warehouse solutions. The latest upgrade also simplifies management of large-scale agent-based deployment with enhancements including multi-agent configuration and automated authentication setup for agents.
Scuba 2.0 is a free, downloadable tool that scans enterprise databases for security vulnerabilities and configuration flaws, including patch levels. Reports provide actionable information to immediately reduce risk, and regular updates help keep pace with emerging threats. Scuba offers nearly 1,200 tests that can be run without experiencing downtime or performance degradation because Scuba does not exploit the vulnerabilities it finds.
From configuration flaws, such as weak passwords, to known security risks and missing critical patches, Scuba delivers a snapshot analysis of the security posture of users’ databases and database infrastructure. The platform offers database support for Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, SAP Sybase, IBM DB2, Informix and MySQL. Businesses can use Scuba software to automate vulnerability discovery, secure infrastructure and measure compliance, prioritize risk and focus remediation resources and safely test enterprise-class databases.

This is the second recent update the company has made to its suite of monitoring and security solutions. In June, Imperva announced it had added ThreatMetrix device identification and fraud malware detection to ThreatRadar Fraud Prevention. The SecureSphere Web Application Firewall interoperates with ThreatMetrix TrustDefender to help secure high-risk transactions, new account origination and online authentication against fraud. The platform is designed to help organizations detect fraudulent users and helps prevent fake accounts and log-ins, mitigating fraud-related expenses. In addition, SecureSphere adds a feature for Web application security by unifying multiple anti-fraud solutions, providing a unified framework to configure, monitor and enforce fraud protection.
