Internet Security Systems, which has had a reputation in the industry for testy relations with its resellers, has hired a new vice president of channels as it continues to try to improve its standing in the VAR community.

The company announced last week that it has brought in Sergio Gemo, a veteran of Alcatel, to head its channel program. Gemo arrives at ISS from Inkra Networks, a security startup that sells appliances with firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention and other security capabilities. Prior to joining Inkra, Gemo was in charge of North American sales and channels at Alcatel.

ISS said that a recent survey of VARs showed that resellers satisfaction with ISS increased in the second quarter of this year, as did the companys channel revenue.
