Chief security officers and other security professionals will get their own employment Web site this fall when an affiliate of the Center for Social & Legal Research launches a dedicated privacy-related job board.

Privacy and American Business, the publishing arm of the not-for-profit think tank, said its job board for privacy professionals will go live on Sept. 3 at pjobs.org. P&AB Executive Director Lorrie Sherwood in Hackensack, N.J., said employers will be able to post security-related job openings on the site, and security professionals seeking positions will be able to search openings and post resumes.

Job seekers will be able to use the board for free. Hiring companies would pay a fee—about $400 per posting, said Sherwood. Companies will be allowed to post jobs for free until Oct. 1, however.

Security professionals are believed to represent a small but growing audience. Sherwood estimated there are about 1,000 chief security officers and top privacy officials with other titles today.

Organizations in healthcare, financials services, telecom and other industries facing new privacy regulations, however, are rapidly adding individuals with security credentials.

Sherwood said the pjobs.com site will be international in scope and will be divided into three sections. One section will focus on mid-level administrators. Another, P-JobsPlus, will address high-level privacy executives or chief privacy officers. The third will help companies find temporary security professionals for special projects and consulting.

Until the official launch of pjobs.com, a preliminary version of the site will be hosted at P&ABs main site, pandab.org.
