Spare Backup announced Dec.5 that it has worked with CA, an information technology management software company, to launch two new security suites for small and midsize businesses.
The two new security suites, Spare Backup Internet Security and Spare Backup Antivirus, package Spare Backups remote backup and restoration services with CAs home and home office Internet security software.
“Home and small businesses do not realize how vulnerable the data on their PCs is, and most do not have adequate or effective backup solutions, security or support services, if at all,” Cery Perle, CEO of Spare Backup, said in a company release.
Spare Backup Internet Security Suite hopes to provide an additional layer of security by combining it with CA Internet Security Suite 2007. The suite will feature anti-virus, anti-spyware and Personal Firewall, to help protect a users PC against viruses, hackers, identity thieves, spam and other online threats that can harm a PC.
The other security suite being offered by Spare Backup and CA, Spare Backup Antivirus, promises to provide business users with virus scanning capabilities that can be loaded on to Spare Backup servers for remote encrypted backup, making sure that a users PC is protected from viruses, Trojans and other forms of harmful malware.
“We are pleased to market two highly competitive computer security offerings that present an enhanced solution to the security needs of the home and small business,” Perle said.

Both security suites will also include Spare Backups Lifeline automated and live technical support service, which allows business users to retrieve automated tasks that identify and resolve problems without having to use a technician.
Lifeline also features remote and live chat support, repair of problems and connection to live technicians.
“Spare Backup is delivering online backup services and live technical support in addition to state-of-the-art anti-virus and Internet security,” Perle added.
Spare Backup Antivirus Suite and Spare Backup Internet Security Suite are available for $8.99 and $9.99 per month, respectively.
