SAN FRANCISCO€”As it does every year, RSA Security Conference 2012 here at the Moscone Center showed 20,000 people onsite€”as well as the world€”why it continues to be the biggest and most important IT security event.

2012 marked the show’s 20th anniversary, with companies attending from all over the world with product announcements and demonstrations highlighting the latest and greatest in their security portfolios. Products covered a wide range of security-related sectors and ranged from networking to cloud services to application security.

Web application firewalls are always on everyone’s agenda, as organizations start worrying about sophisticated attackers launching more complex attacks against Websites.

With the oncoming bring-your-own-device (BYOD) trend changing how IT administrators control access to applications on the network, vendors rolled out mobile device management products designed to make the process less daunting.

The cloud was the focus of many discussions, whether as a way to deliver security tools or to protect the data housed within from cyber-attacks.

eWEEK’s coverage included Labs Director Cameron Sturdevant’s take on the 21 hottest vendors at the show. Senior Writer Fahmida Rashid, who practically lived at Moscone Center that week, chipped in with several articles, including “Security Products That Deliver What You Need.”

  • New RSA director of federal business, Navy Adm. (Ret.) Mike Brown
  • Okta CEO and founder Todd McKinnon
  • Cloud Security Alliance Executive Director Jim Reavis
  • DriveSavers CTO Mike Hall

These interviews are concise (about 8 minutes or fewer) yet loaded with good, timely information about these organizations. Check them out below.
