Hewlett Packard expanded its Compute portfolio with two ProLiant Gen9 Tower servers, which are aimed at small- to medium-size businesses. The servers are designed to run general purpose workloads and applications such as IT infrastructure, collaboration, Web and business applications.

The servers include the ProLiant ML10 v2, an entry-level 10 Series tower server with increased connectivity slots for storage and networking.

The Federal Aviation Administration has now given permission to Amazon to begin outdoor test flights of its delivery drones. However the FAA also placed limitations on the operation of those drones.

The restrictions include limiting drone flights to no more than 400 feet above ground level and testing must be performed in clear weather during daylight hours. The drone operator must have a private pilot’s license with a current medical certificate. In addition, the operator must have line of sight visibility of the drone when it’s flying.

A European lawmaker has called on EU regulators to bring formal antitrust charges against Google after a document surfaced this week showing that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission staff wanted the agency to sue Google for violating antitrust laws.

Several European lawmakers have previously said that it might become necessary to split Google’s search business from the rest of the company to ensure fair competition in the search services space.

Distributed denial-of-service attacks are often associated with large bursts of attack traffic that last for hours at a time. However, a report from Corero Network Security has found that the majority of DDoS attacks in the fourth quarter of 2014 lasted 30 minutes or fewer.

The short-duration DDoS attacks represented 96 percent of attacks against Corero’s customers in that quarter. While the DDoS attacks were short in duration, Corero reported in its DDoS Trends and Analysis quarterly report that its customers saw an average of 3.9 attacks per day.
