Epson introduced its next generation of ultra-slim, Expression Small-in-One wireless photo printers, which feature wireless technology and access to social media sites like Facebook.

The Expression Premium XP-530, XP-630 and XP-830 leverage a Claria Premium five-ink system to deliver improved quality and borderless prints up to 8 inches by 10 inches.

The Expression Photo XP-960 Small-in-One printer features six-color Claria Photo HD inks to deliver professional-quality borderless photos up to 11 inches by 17 inches and documents with sharper text.

The printers also offer auto two-sided printing to save paper, and user-friendly creative tools to enhance photos from the printer.

Designed as complete wireless solutions, the printers feature built-in WiFi Certified n1 and Wi-Fi Direct for network-free printing, as well as built-in memory card slots and USB ports for PC-free printing.

“Wireless technology has empowered users to be more productive as they can print from virtually any device: notebooks, tablets or smart phones – whenever they need to do so,” Monika Dees, senior product marketing manager of consumer inkjets, told eWEEK. “There’s been a huge increase in printing wirelessly in the last two years and with the continued proliferation of WiFi devices, we expect this trend to continue.”

She noted Epson offers a complete suite of solutions for remote and wireless printing, which include Epson Connect, Apple AirPrint, and Google Cloud Print.

Each printer also allows users to print from smartphones and tablets at home or on the go with Epson Connect. They also can edit, scan and share photos directly to Facebook or the cloud.

In addition, all models are compatible with the Epson Creative Print app to print Facebook photos and create custom cards, coloring books, stationery and more.

“Listening to consumers through social media, product reviews; and our own website has provided us very valuable feedback that we continue to incorporate in our product development process. Sharing content is a key element for sure,” Dees said. “Our Creative Print app makes printing photos from Facebook a walk in the park. Uploading to social media and the cloud is also important; Epson’s Scan to Cloud feature makes it easy.”

The XP-830 ($199) features a 4.3-inch touchscreen, auto-extend and retract output tray, while the XP-630 ($149) includes a 2.7-inch LCD display.

The flagship XP-960 ($299) comes equipped with a fold-over scan lid that allows documents and photos to stay in place for high quality scans and a rear paper feed for specialty paper such as card stock, envelopes, labels and more, while the compact XP-530 ($129) comes bundled with Epson’s Creative Print App.
