Remote control and online meetings software specialist TeamViewer announced the latest version, TeamViewer 10, is available for all main operating systems including Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8/RT, BlackBerry for download through the company’s website.
The latest version features new collaboration tools, deeper customization and online storage integration with Dropbox and others to help increase the capacity of IT departments and to make it easier for businesses of all sizes to provide a customized and integrated user experience across devices.
TeamViewer 10 provides additional control features, enabling IT administrators to apply, distribute and enforce setting policies centrally through the TeamViewer Management Console.
“For many employees, their work doesn’t stop once they leave the office, and they need to be able to have quick and easy remote access to important company files on their office computer and to be able to easily reach and communicate with team members while at home or on the road using their mobile devices,” Kornelius Brunner, head of product management at TeamViewer, told eWeek.
Brunner explained that using the TeamViewer 10 app, users can control remote computers and transfer files to and from remote computers using their iOS and Android devices.
“With TeamViewer 10, supporters now can use also Linux computers to provide support for the ever increasing number of mobile devices, and there is a new app that allows users to remote control other devices from their Blackberry,” he said.
Any changes to setting policies are automatically applied to all TeamViewer installations, and users can integrate their computers and contacts into other applications with a new Computers & Contacts API, which allows them to synchronize information, see when customers are online and access and manage contacts and assets within software.
The company has also optimized central processing unit (CPU) usage for multi-core processors, and improved HD voice transmission quality and faster login and load times for the Management Console.
Enhanced communication features include a complete chat history for all conversations, making it possible to locate a previous message across devices, and users can now create persistent group chats, while all chat conversations are end-to-end encrypted.
In addition, whitelisting capabilities allow users to manage access to devices using just one whitelist through the Management Console without requiring granting users access on each specific device.
It is also now possible to add entire companies to the whitelist at once instead of having to add each separate user.
Users can share files during meetings or remote control sessions by using Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive or Box, and a new app allows users to remote control Windows, Mac and Linux computers over the Internet from their BlackBerry smartphone.
Features of the app include the transfer of files to and from remote computers, full keyboard functionality, touch and control gestures including Windows 8 multi-touch support, sound and video transmission in real-time and others.
TeamViewer 10 also features an integrated remote control toolbar specifically designed for Mac OS X Yosemite with TeamViewer 10.
Mac users can now customize their TeamViewer QuickJoin and TeamViewer Host modules and use a whiteboard even during remote control sessions and select only what they want to reveal on their screen by using an application selection feature.
