Toshiba has unveiled plans for a 64GB SDXC memory card, with what it says is the world’s fastest data transfer rate. The card is also compliant with the new SD Memory Standard Version 3.0 UHS104, which is said to deliver data rates of 104MB per second.
Additionally, Toshiba has included its SKHC memory card line to include 32GB and 16GB versions, also compliant with the UHS104 standard.
The cards are intended for users needing increased data capacity to support high-speed continuous shooting for digital still cameras, for example, and digital camcorders with high-resolution recording.
All three feature a maximum write speed of 35MB per second and a read speed of 60MB per second.
Samples of the 64GB SDXC card will start shipping to OEM manufacturers in November, and Toshiba expects the card to be for sale at major retailers by the spring of 2010.
Samples of the 16GB SDHC card will ship to manufacturers in December, followed by samples of the 32GB cards to manufacturers in January. Both are additionally expected to be available for sale in the spring.
All three cards have a signal voltage of 1.8V and an SD clock speed of 208MHz. The pricing of the memory cards has not yet been made available.
The SD Association, the body that governs SD Card applications, eventually plans to offer cards with 2TB of storage.
