We talk a lot about how technology can drive business, increase competitive edge, make users more productive and so on. But it can be easy to lose sight of how technology can be used to educate young people and provide opportunity in underserved communities. Thats why eWEEK is proud to announce that proceeds from the Excellence Awards program have been donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America for use in technology-related projects. Weve made a donation of $15,000 each to clubhouses in areas near eWEEK offices: Lawrence, Mass.; Harlem, N.Y.; and San Francisco. eWEEK also has donated $10,000 to clubhouses hit hardest by Hurricane Katrina.
