Motorola announced March 19 that its MC70 Enterprise Digital Assistants product line now supports CDMA-EVDO (Evolution-Data Optimized), which is a wireless broadband standard, networks, enabling users to expand their reach by eradicating network barriers and giving users a tool that supports applications for the on-the-go worker.

Motorolas MC70, originally launched in January 2006, is a handheld mobile computer that combines multi-mode wireless networking, voice and data communications and advanced data capabilities and enables business users to carry out different business applications such as asset management, parcel delivery, direct store delivery and fleet management.

“The MC70 Enterprise Digital Assistant is a mobile extension of your desktop bringing critical data and applications to the point of business activity,” said Sheldon Safir, director of mobile computing for the Holtsville, N.Y.-based Motorolas Enterprise Mobility Business.

Now that Motorolas MC70 supports CDMA-EVDO networks, which include carriers such as Sprint and Verizon, more users will be able to connect at any given time, enabling them to stay connected to the workplace while on the road.

The new MC70 also complements its existing GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) version, which includes carriers like Cingular. The service enables subscribers to use their phones in many parts of the world.

“This product line expansion enables us to broaden customer reach to customers operating on the CDMA network, providing an enterprise mobility tool that can support applications in different environments,” Safir said.

The MC70 from Motorola also features WAN (wide area network)/LAN (local area network)/PAN (personal area network) capabilities, providing business users with fast wireless data speeds that allow users to access business applications while also giving users wireless printing functionality.

Motorolas MC70 is available now with prices ranging from $2,845 to $3,195, depending on configuration.
