Nokia last week named the head of its mobile phone division to succeed Jorma Ollila, who has served as CEO for 13 years and chairman for six. Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo will replace Ollila next June. Kallasvuo, the executive vice president and general manager of mobile phones, has been with Nokia since 1980. Kallasvuo is also taking the reins as company president, succeeding Pekka Ala-Pietilä, who will become executive adviser in October and leave Nokia in February.

Ollila, meanwhile, has taken a job as the nonexecutive chairman at Royal Dutch Shell, the oil giant. He will replace the outgoing chairman in June.

In a separate executive shift, Symbol Technologies announced that President and CEO Bill Nuti has resigned to become CEO of NCR. Nuti replaces Mark Hurd, who left NCR in March to become CEO of Hewlett-Packard. Sal Iannuzzi, Symbol senior vice president and chief administrative and financial officer, has been named interim president and CEO while the company searches for a new leader.
