Owing to increasing demand for CDMA (cellular digital multiple access) components overseas, cell phone chip maker Qualcomm Inc. on Wednesday posted positive earnings for the fiscal second quarter of 2003.

Net income for the quarter was $104 million, up from $43.9 million for the same quarter last year. Revenues were $1 billion.

The San Diego, Calif., company predicts a continued rise in revenue for the third quarter.
