Gateway is continuing to set its sights on the high-end desktop market.

The Irvine, Calif., PC maker unveiled its new line of FX530 desktops on Oct. 30. These desktops will feature Intels Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Extreme processors along with 975x supporting chip sets, which the company said will give customers a desktop capable of supporting applications such as digital content creation and PC gaming.

The desktop series, which starts at $2,499, will start shipping on Nov. 2, the company said in a statement.

In the past few months, Gateway has begun offering more high-end PCs and reinvigorated its direct sales program. On Aug. 3, the company announced a new desktops series, the E-6610, to appeal to business users.

In its announcement, Gateway said that all three PCs in the FX530 line can be upgraded to Intels quad-core processor when it is released.
