Lowell McAdam, president and COO of Verizon Wireless, took the stage first at the Time Warner Center to reveal the tech industrys worst-kept secret: that his company had partnered with Apple.

Tim Cook

Apple COO Tim Cook appeared to discuss the iPhone 4 appearing on Verizon Wireless network within the next couple weeks. He suggested that his company had been in talks with the carrier for some time.

Cook suggested the Verizon iPhone 4 will offer FaceTime, Retina display and other iOS staples.

Dan Mead

Verizon Wireless CEO Dan Mead insisted the carrier would be able to handle the iPhones expected customer load, and that everything from delivery systems to inventory would be geared up ahead of the smartphones arrival.

Mead and Cook

Mead and Cook declined to talk details of the contract between Verizon and Apple, except to say it was a multiyear agreement. Cook also suggested that adapting the iPhone to LTE would have resulted in "compromises" that Apple refused to make.

Verizon Debut

Preorders will begin Feb. 3, with general availability Feb. 10. The phone will be priced at either $199 for the 16GB model or $299 for the 32GB model with a two-year contract.??í

In terms of design and look, the Verizon iPhone 4 is little different from the version already available on AT&T.

Personal Hotspot

One Verizon-specific feature for the iPhone 4 will be "Personal Hotspots," which lets the smartphone connect up to five WiFi devices.

New Antenna Design

Cook alluded during his talk to some iPhone 4 antenna changes in order to accommodate the CDMA network, which is why the exterior rim of the smartphone looks a little different (at least in terms of notch placement) from the AT&T version.

Home Screen

The Verizon iPhones home screen is basically the same as the AT&T version, including a lack of carrier-specific apps.
