A new web site lists technology products, both low and high tech, to improve care and quality of life for residents of long-term care facilities. This site lists options in fall detection and prevention, wander management, calling for assistance, and incontinence. Guidelines describe regulatory and other concerns to consider when picking a technology. It also lists questions for care providers to ask vendors and manufacturers.
The site, Technology for Long Term Care, was constructed by the Polisher Research Institute and IDEAS, Inc in response to a research project by the Department of Health and Human Services on how to help residential care settings make the best use of technology.
In addition to helping care providers select technologies, the site includes product descriptions, price (when available), and contact information for manufacturers or distributors. Access to the Web site is free and unrestricted.
