Service management and asset management solutions specialist Numara Software announced expanded options for hosted- and software-as-a-service-based delivery. The company now offers its ITIL v3 compatible Numara FootPrints IT service desk management solution with a set of on-premise and off-premise deployment options, including a subscription option with flexible choices for product functionality. The SAAS offering is the same FootPrints product that has been available on- or off-premise on a perpetual license basis.

Whether organizations run their deployments in SAAS, hosted or on-premise, they all run on the same service management code base with the ability to choose the services they want to use in any combination of named and concurrent licenses. The company said the offerings also address the market gap where IT organizations are looking to shift between deployment models without being restricted. Numara Software SAAS customers can move from a subscription to a perpetual license model and receive credit for payments they have made under subscription, a company release noted.

“IT executives have been looking for flexible delivery models for IT service management,” said Fred Broussard, research director for PC, device and IT service management software at IT research firm IDC. “Solutions for easy migration to and from on-premise and hosted/SAAS environments and the ability to automate IT service desk and non-IT processes, such as in Numara Software’s offerings, can provide this flexible delivery.”

The company offers a single code stream for hosted and non-hosted solutions, named and concurrent licensing options, off-premise or on-premise, and the option to rent or own FootPrints licenses, whether they’re renting on- or off-premise. Subscription pricing includes discount tiers based on size and complexity of deployment. Businesses can select between subscription-based pricing (solving for limited budgets), perpetual license pricing (a lower total cost of ownership over multiple years) or the ability to move from one to the other.

“As a leading service management and asset management vendor, our goal is to offer our customers the greatest flexibility possible with our solutions. We focus on helping them achieve their IT objectives for efficiency, cost management and service delivery to their own customers,” said David Weiss, president and CEO of Numara. “Our Numara FootPrints SAAS offering goes well beyond the SAAS options currently in the market in solving for IT’s range of needs today.”

Ludmilla Tscherniwetz, director of HRIS at William Beaumont Hospital, said for nearly five years they’ve been using FootPrints for their service desk management process and in a hosted environment where Numara hosts and manages the system for them. “We chose the hosting service because it is maintenance-free and cost-effective,” she said. “We’ve been happy with Numara FootPrints and the hosted version fits the needs of our business and we have never had any downtime. We rely on it and the hosting model makes it easy for us.”
