With an eye on moving deeper into the cloud, BMC Software has expanded its alliance with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver a cloud services and cloud management portfolio that will give enterprises fast and easy access to the power of the AWS cloud.

As part of the expanded alliance, BMC will work closely with AWS to offer packaged “JumpStart” solutions that consist of BMC licenses, AWS cloud services, professional services and support. In addition, the companies will work together on deeper product integration and go-to-market activities, BMC officials said.

“Building on significant ongoing product integration, BMC will work with Amazon Web Services to deliver bundled solutions targeted at addressing key DevOps, Web application and corporate IT use cases,” said Brad Kern, BMC’s vice president of alliances, in a statement. As a result, enterprises will be able to run their complex workloads quickly and in a cost-effective manner. It is a powerful collaboration that will transform how customers deploy and manage their clouds.”

BMC’s cloud management technologies, including the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management (CLM) and BMC Cloud Operations Management solutions, enable organizations like JDA Software Group to extend their existing IT controls and processes to a range of cloud-based managed services.

“As a CLM customer, we are pleased to see the collaboration between BMC and AWS,” said John Frazier, vice president, cloud services at JDA Software, in a statement. “At JDA, we are considering options for building out our own hybrid environment, and this alliance gives us the confidence that our BMC management tools will support the full range of functionality needed for us to adopt AWS as a core platform.”

The new combined portfolio will support a variety of enterprise workloads including Web applications, line-of-business applications such as SAP, MS SharePoint and Oracle, as well as high-performance computing workloads, including Amazon Elastic Map Reduce and Amazon DynamoDB. Enterprise customers will be able to leverage the enterprise systems management and corporate governance they already use today, coupled with access to the global scale and performance of AWS, BMC said.

“We are pleased to build on the existing relationship with BMC to continue serving the needs of enterprise customers by delivering solutions that combine BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management with the reliable, flexible, low-cost AWS Cloud,” said Terry Wise, head of Worldwide Partner Ecosystem at Amazon Web Services. “Working closely together at the field level will help us to address the governance and control requirements of our enterprise customers and provide solutions that meet their needs.”
