Virtustream Will Incorporate VMware NSX Into Its Cloud
EMC will work with VMware to establish Virtustream's Enterprise Cloud as an endpoint for VMware vRealize Suite.LAS VEGAS—EMC's store-bought cloud, Virtustream, revealed Aug. 29 that it plans to integrate the VMware NSX network virtualization platform into its enterprise cloud. This is a good thing for enterprises considering an alternative to AWS, Azure or Google Cloud because Virtustream, a member of the vCloud Air Network, didn't have anything like VMware's industry-standard, enterprise-ready platform. The announcement was another in a list of similar cooperation news items that will become more common as the merger of Dell and EMC continues to wind its way through international regulatory approvals. Finalization of the merger is expected by October, Michael Dell said Aug. 29 at VMworld 2016. EMC will work with VMware to establish Virtustream's Enterprise Cloud as an endpoint for VMware vRealize Suite, designed for users within a software-defined data center architecture, or as part of EMC Enterprise Hybrid Cloud.
Initiatives like this one will further integrate solutions from across EMC, Virtustream and VMware to help users better leverage hybrid cloud as part of their digital transformation initiatives by adding connections from on-premises infrastructure to Virtustream's Enterprise Cloud, an infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) solution designed for mission-critical applications.
