Oracle partner NetSuite has introduced the NetSuite Two-Tier enterprise resource planning cloud-based software application that enables corporate subsidiaries to run a smaller-scale application that can run in conjunction with the Oracle ERP platform at the corporate parent’s headquarters.

NetSuite announced Two-Tier ERP for Oracle at the Oracle OpenWorld conference held Sept. 30 to Oct. 4 in San Francisco.

Two-Tier ERP for Oracle is part of the NetSuite OneWorld ERP suite and also includes SuiteCloud Connectors to Oracle that are delivered by a number of independent software vendors (ISVs) and system integrators (SIs), such as IBM Cast Iron, Informatica, Dell Boomi, Pervasive Software and Celigo, NetSuite officials said.

Two-Tier ERP helps manage divisions within large multinational corporations that also have multiple subsidiaries.

The idea behind the two-tiered approach is to be able to manage ERP specifically for a subsidiary while preserving the parent company’s Oracle E-Business Suite investments. However, NetSuite said it also supports non-Oracle ERP solutions. The two-tier approach can also be used to manage mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and joint ventures.

NetSuite said that the cloud-based Two-Tier ERP product can be deployed quickly and more easily than an on-premise solution deployed at each subsidiary.

Features of OneWorld include embedded analytics with dashboard-like monitoring and the ability to drill down to see specific transactions and feed into corporate data warehouses. The platform also enables users to gather real-time information about the operations and financials of the subsidiaries or divisions. To work effectively with global organizations, OneWorld supports more than 190 currencies, 19 languages and various country-specific accounting standards.

Land O’Lakes, an agricultural cooperative and maker of dairy-based food products that operates globally, adopted NetSuite OneWorld.

“We’ve been able to implement three of our foreign entities much more efficiently and in a more cost-effective manner than a traditional ERP implementation,” said Michael Macrie, vice president of information technology at Land O’Lakes, in a statement.

The NetSuite news made at Oracle OpenWorld follows another announcement at a NetSuite users conference in May in San Mateo, Calif., where the company introduced SuiteCommerce, a platform that provides the development and transactional tools to enable users to build commerce applications that run on Websites, mobile devices, in social media and at in-store point-of-sale displays.
