HP has unveiled its four latest premium laptop computers: the HP Spectre, which is the company's thinnest laptop; a 2-in-1 convertible Envy Hybrid; and two other Envy models with 15.6- or 17.3-inch displays.

The new machines, announced April 5, are the latest versions of HP's flagship laptops aimed at users who demand high-performance machines with style and broad feature sets.

The Spectre (pictured), which HP claims is the thinnest laptop made in the world, at 0.41 inches thick, features a 13.3-inch full HD display with a Corning Gorilla glass cover, a carbon fiber bottom, an aluminum chassis and a weight of 2.45 pounds. The machine can be configured with a range of sixth-generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, up to 8GB of LPDDR3 SDRAM memory, SSD drives with up to 256GB of storage and Intel HD Graphics 520 with up to 4GB of total graphics memory, according to HP. The machine, which promises battery life of up to 9 hours and 45 minutes on a full charge, also includes Windows 10 Home, a backlit keyboard and Bang & Olufsen audio tuning.

The exterior of the Spectre has high gloss copper accents to give the machine a hand-polished, jewelry-like finish. Also included is a hidden rear hinge that creates the illusion of a hinge-less design. The laptop also has three USB Type-C connectors, two of which support Thunderbolt.

Preorders for the Spectre will begin April 25 on HP.com and through Best Buy starting at $1,169.99. The machines will be available in Best Buy stores on May 22 starting at $1,249.99.

HP Envy x360 Hybrid

The latest Envy x360 Hybrid is an updated version of an earlier model. The newest version of the machine, which has a 15.6-inch display, is 21 percent thinner than the version it replaces, according to HP. The x360, which has an all-metal design, weighs 4.5 pounds and is 0.74 inches thick. The machines can be configured with up to 16GB of memory and single or dual storage drives, with up to 2TB hard drives and up to 256GB PCIe solid-state drives (SSDs).

The Envy x360 promises longer battery life, up to 11 hours, versus to 8 hours on the previous generation, according to HP. The machines can be configured with sixth-generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors with optional Intel Iris graphics or seventh-generation AMD FX 9800P quad-core processors with Radeon R7 Graphics.

The machine comes standard with a full HD display or can be ordered with an optional 4K display. It is also equipped with Bang & Olufsen audio tuning, two USB 3.0 Gen 1 ports, one USB Type-C port and High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) connector and an SD card reader.

The HP Envy x360 will be available on HP.com starting June 1 and BestBuy.com on May 29 starting at $679.99. It will be available in Best Buy stores starting June 12.
