Lenovo launched two new Yoga computers running Windows 10—the Yoga 900 convertible, which can be used in four different positions, and the Yoga 900 Home all-in-one, which includes a rechargeable battery that allows it to become a portable device with a 27-inch display.
Lenovo unveiled both devices on Oct. 19 at a press event in San Francisco.
The Lenovo Yoga 900 convertible laptop can be configured with a range of Intel processors up to the latest sixth-generation Core i7 models, along with up to 16 GB of LP-DDR3L memory and solid-state drives up to 512GB. The machine is 0.58 inches thick and its weight starts at 2.8 pounds, depending on configuration. The Yoga 900 also includes a special watchband hinge that allows users to flip and fold the machine into different positions as a laptop, standing machine, a tent mode or as a tablet.
The Yoga 900 convertible includes a 13.3-inch QHD+ (3200 by 1800) In-Plane Switching (IPS) display, integrated JBL stereo speakers and Dolby Audio Premium sound capabilities. It also includes integrated Intel HD Graphics, a 1-megapixel 720p HD CMOS Webcam, WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities, Windows 10 Home edition, two USB 3.0 ports, a USB-C port and a 4-in-1 memory card reader.
The machines start at $1,199.99 and come in Clementine Orange, Platinum Silver or Champagne Gold. They will be available at Best Buy and www.lenovo.com starting Oct. 19.
The Lenovo Yoga Home 900 All-in-One
Built as an all-in-one that can be moved easily from room to room or even taken on the road, the new Lenovo Yoga Home 900 portable allows users to get more out of the machine through the simplicity of a built-in rechargeable battery.
The Yoga Home 900 provides extra flexibility for everything from productivity applications to entertainment chores through its large, bright 27-inch touch-screen display that can be moved easily without power cords.
The Yoga Home 900 can be configured with processors up to Intel fifth-generation Core i7 models, as well as optional Nvidia GeForce 940A graphics capabilities. The Home 900 can also be built with up to 8GB of DDR3, 1,600MHz memory and hard drives up to 1TB plus SSD drives up to 8GB. The machines run on Windows 10 Home 64-bit operating systems.
The Yoga Home 900 also includes a 1080p Webcam with a single-array microphone, integrated speakers and an improved AURA 3.0 interface, which includes enhanced photo facial-recognition and editing features. AURA 3.0 lets users easily access photos, videos and hundreds of new entertainment, productivity and education apps through the new AURA Store, which is now linked to the Windows Store.
The Yoga Home 900 starts at $1,549 and will be available by the end of October on www.lenovo.com.
“From introducing the convertible laptop category three years ago with Yoga, we know people love the flexibility and portability of our multimode design,” Dilip Bhatia, vice president of worldwide marketing and user experience in Lenovo’s PC and enterprise business group, said in a statement. “The new Yoga 900 and Yoga Home 900 are not your traditional PC. We studied real user needs to make them as thin and light as possible for the portability that they need, while upping the PCs’ performance and refining the Yoga’s signature watchband hinge for an even smoother rotation to switch between modes.”
Lenovo launched several other machines for enterprise users in September, including ThinkPad Yoga convertible models for enterprise users, a new 12-inch business tablet, four new business laptops and its latest Chromebook, according to a recent eWEEK report. The machines included the ThinkPad Yoga 260; the ThinkPad Yoga 460; the Ideapad 300 and 500 laptops; the Ideapad 100S, 300S and 500S laptops; the MIIX 700 12-inch tablet and the Lenovo 100S Chromebook.
