Lenovo Launches New Laptops, Convertibles, Chromebooks, Tablets

The latest devices are individually targeted to meet the needs of business, enterprise or consumer users with various feature packages and prices.

Lenovo has freshened its mobile computing lineup with several new ThinkPad Yoga convertible models for enterprise users, a new 12-inch business tablet, four new business laptops and its latest Chromebook.

The new devices, which were announced by the company Sept. 2 just before the IFA 2015 conference in Berlin, include the ThinkPad Yoga 260, the ThinkPad Yoga 460, the Ideapad 300 and 500 laptops, the Ideapad 100S, 300S and 500S laptops, the MIIX 700 12-inch tablet and the Lenovo 100S Chromebook.

The latest ThinkPad Yoga 460 and 260 convertibles are thinner and lighter than the company's previous models and include LTE-A wireless WAN connectivity, which offers speeds up to three times faster than LTE, according to Lenovo.

The Yoga devices can be used in four modes: as a laptop, a tablet, standing up or in tent mode.

The ThinkPad Yoga 460 is available with a selection of Intel Core i7 or Core i5 processors, a 14-inch WQHD multi-touch display or a 14-inch FHD display, up to 1TB HDD, up to 8GB of DDR3L RAM and solid-state drives (SSDs) up to 256GB. The machine is built with carbon fiber material and weighs about 3.9 pounds. It also features an integrated ThinkPad Pen Pro for writing on the display, runs on Windows 10, and is available in black or silver. The Yoga 460 starts at $1,049 and will be available in select countries in October and in North America in January with enterprise features.

The ThinkPad Yoga 260 can be purchased with an 12.5-inch full-HD multi-touch display or a 12.5-inch FHD display, up to 512GB of SSD storage, up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a range of Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors. The machines include an integrated ThinkPad Pen Pro and start at 2.9 pounds. They can be equipped to run Windows 7 or Windows 10 and will be available in black or silver. ThinkPad Yoga 260 prices start at $949. The machines will be available beginning in November in select countries.

The company's new Ideapad MIIX 700 two-in-one tablet (pictured) has a 12-inch FHD display and is powered by Intel processors that range up to Core m7 CPUs. The machines feature dual watchband hinges that allow a wide range of screen positions and can be equipped with up to 8GB of LPDDR3L RAM, Windows 7 or Windows 10, and SSD drives up to 256GB. The MIIX 700, which will be available in November, starts at $699 and can be purchased with an optional Intel RealSense Camera.

Meanwhile, the Ideapad 300 and Ideapad 500 laptops are up to 33 percent thinner than previous models three years ago, according to Lenovo. A 14-inch model weighs about 4.6 pounds, while the 15-inch models weigh about 5 pounds. Each comes with several video card options, including Nvidia GeForce 920 graphics; 1TB of storage; and Dolby Advanced Audio.  

The Ideapad 300 includes faster WiFi to ensure video game play performance that's up to three times faster than regular laptops, according to Lenovo. The Ideapad 500 can be equipped with a range of Intel CPUs up to the Core i7 processor.

The Ideapad 300 will be available with 14-inch, 15-inch or 17-inch displays, starting at $399. They will be available in October. The Ideapad 500 will come with a 14-inch or 15-inch display, starting at $499 in October. The optional Intel RealSense Camera will only be available with the 15-inch display. All of the Ideapads will be available in a wide range of CPU, memory, storage and other configurations.

Users who seek lighter and thinner machines can opt for the new Ideapad 100S, 300S or 500S machines, which are slimmed down from earlier models. The Ideapad 100S is available with 11-inch or 14-inch screens, starting at $179. They will be available in October. The Ideapad 300S is also available with 11-inch or 14-inch screens starting at $249. They will also be available in October. The Ideapad 500S is available with a 13-inch, 14-inch or 15-inch display, starting at $499, with availability in October.

The new Lenovo 100S Chromebook can be configured with several models of Intel Celeron processors, up to 4GB of RAM and eMMC flash storage of up to 32GB. The machine includes an 11.6-inch HD display and weighs about 2.6 pounds. Pricing and availability dates were not announced for the latest Chromebook.
