iPhone Apps to Celebrate Earth Day
Earth Day—founded by Sen. Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in first held on April 22, 1970—is an annual day for inspiring awareness and appreciation for the Earth's natural environment. The international network reaches more than 19,000 organizations in 192 countries, while the domestic program engages 10,000 groups and more than 100,000 educators coordinating millions of community development and environmental-protection activities throughout the year. Earth Day Network, the group founded by the organizers of the first Earth Day to coordinate the annual day of action, said that this year's theme, "The Face of Climate Change," was chosen because of the need to highlight the mounting impact of climate change around the world. Thanks to the wizards behind the applications offered at Apple's App Store, you can participate in more ways than ever. What's important to keep in mind is that every day should be Earth Day, so use the time today (and these apps) to take a look at what you can do year-round to protect our planet. Every little bit helps, and not only will you save money, but you'll also likely feel a little bit better about yourself.
