As it adds more customers, T-Mobile is trying to bulk up its IT staff in Seattle, where it is seeking skilled workers in software, systems and more.
T-Mobile is seeking to hire more than 100 additional IT professionals for its internal operations in Seattle as the company works to keep up with the demands of new customers.
The Bellevue, Wash.-based company announced July 27 that is seeking IT workers in a wide variety of job classifications, from applications support analysts to enterprise systems architects, system design and strategy engineers, Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance experts, radio network technology development experts, software developers, technical project managers, GIS engineers, Web and cloud security experts, deployment engineers and network operations technicians.
The company said that the new hiring is directly inspired by customer growth it has seen over the last several quarters.
"That rapid growth means new technology job opportunities—right here in Seattle/Bellevue," the company announced in a statement. "T-Mobile—a Best Place to Work in Washington and top employer in the Seattle area is planning to hire for more than 100 technology positions before the end of 2015. "
Other positions that are available include IT solutions owner managers, national site compliance managers, senior engineer in product realization, senior technical delivery manager and technical support engineer.
For its hiring push, T-Mobile is operating a magenta recruiting truck across the metropolitan area where candidates can learn about careers with the company. The truck is being operated through July 31 in the area, and candidates can track its location on Twitter by checking the hash tag @tmobile_careers, according to T-Mobile.
On July 28, the recruiting truck will be at the Bellevue Pod at Barnes & Noble in the Bellevue Galleria from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT.
On July 29, the truck will visit Safeco Field in Seattle from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. PT, and then in the Fremont area of Seattle from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. PT.
On July 30, the truck will visit the Space Needle in Seattle from 7:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., and then will be at the Pike Place Market in Seattle from 11:15 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On July 31, the recruiting truck will visit the Seafair Festival at the Seattle Waterfront from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
T-Mobile notes that is has been recognized by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) as a "Best Place to Work" with a perfect 100 score on the Corporate Equality Index and is ranked No. 17 on Glassdoor's list of the 25 Top Companies for Compensation and Benefits, with employees giving the company four out of five stars for compensation and benefits offerings such as incentive plans and annual stock grants for all employees.
Through the start of 2015, T-Mobile has been introducing more innovations to attract new customers and expand its business. In March, the company began offering new mobile services targeted directly at small and midsize businesses to bring them into T-Mobile's ecosystem. At the same time, T-Mobile unveiled a new program aimed at consumers, starting with guaranteed rates forever and payments of up to $650 per line to buy out a new customer's existing smartphone payment plan from either Verizon Wireless or AT&T.
In July, T-Mobile offered customers 10GB of high-speed 4G LTE data plus unlimited calling and texting for each of four Family Plan users for a total of $120 under a special promotion that is available through Labor Day, Sept. 7. The promotion is part of T-Mobile's latest Un-carrier Amped announcements, which offer new and existing customers targeted feature improvements for their mobile phone accounts. In the last two years, T-Mobile has unveiled a series of what it calls "Un-carrier" events that have ended mobile contracts for consumers, removed overage charges, created rollover data capabilities and more.
In June, T-Mobile announced that it was making it easier for customers to switch mobile phones as many as three times a year under its newly revamped JUMP! On Demand program, while also now allowing customers to pick up the new devices with absolutely no money down.
In April, T-Mobile reported mixed financial results for the first quarter of 2015, with a 13.1 percent revenue increase to $7.78 billion from a year earlier, but a loss of $63 million. At the same time, the company reduced its customer churn rate to a record low of 1.3 percent.
The latest quarter's results compare with the company's fourth-quarter 2014 profit of $101 million and revenue of $8.15 billion.
T-Mobile recently said it added 2.1 million new customers in the second quarter of 2015, which is the ninth consecutive quarter that it added more than 1 million customers. The additions now give T-Mobile a total of about 58.9 million postpaid, prepaid and wholesale customers.
T-Mobile will announce its second-quarter earnings on July 30.
