VMware vCenter Client for iPad Is Only Eye Candy
The VMware vSphere Client for iPad attempts to put IT administrators in the driver's seat using the Apple iPad as the steering wheel. Instead, the management tool yields a pretty but limited insight into the workings of the virtual data center. Lacking alarms, VM creation and other basic features of the standard vCenter client, the VMware vSphere Client for iPad is more eye candy than management utility. At no additional cost, the VMware vSphere Client for iPad can't be faulted for costing too much. But until the tool provides alarms and more control over the virtual data center, IT managers should see this first attempt at a tablet-based management interface as a prototype rather than an essential "must have."
