Some updates on search from Greg Sterling, The Kelsey Group.

Though email still the most popular daily online activity, search is closing in...As of last year, newspaper classifieds were the source of  5% of new hires, online ads 51 percent... Some 43% of search engine users look for local merchants to buy something offline.

Ken Cassar,  Nielsen/Netratings: Online activity is made up of communication: 41%, content viewing  36%, commerce 19%, search 5%. Some 47% of all searchers use any of the top 100 search terms, while 53% use the balance.
