Patching system vulnerabilities can be a time-consuming job for most IT departments. Citadel Security Software Inc. has rolled out software designed to automate the patching process.
Hercules can automatically secure about 90 percent of all known server and workstation vulnerabilities, the Dallas-based company said.
The product automates the identification and deployment of patches and fixes to commercial operating systems, applications and databases. It brings together remediation and scan information from various vendors, then matches scan codes with the latest remediation codes. Hercules then automatically remediates targeted machines.
Hercules runs on Windows NT, 2000 and XP systems, with future support for Unix, Linux and Solaris under development.
It is available now for $995 per server.
