A new company called Neoteris, led by Web pioneers Jim Clark and Krishna “Kittu” Kolluri, is set today to announce its first product, designed to cut the cost and complexity of deploying secure remote networks. The network appliance simplifies the process of deploying a virtual private network for accessing enterprise applications, and requires no software — other than a standard Web browser — on the users machine.

Priceline Profit

Name-your-own-price Internet travel specialist Priceline.com surprised analysts by posting a small profit. The company said reduced prices for airline tickets and hotel bookings after Sept.11 pulled down its revenue, but it was still able to eke out a $5 million net profit in the third quarter.

NextWave Deal

Bankrupt NextWave Telecom has reportedly reached a deal to sell its wireless licenses to Verizon Wireless, Vodafone Group and other big carriers. The $16 billion deal will settle a long battle, and make more airwaves available for next-generation services in numerous markets.
