British address management software vendor QAS Ltd. is expanding into Singapore with a deal to collaborate with SingPost, Singapores Postal Authority.

Company managing director for Asia Pacific, Glenn Parker, said the move is a first step toward the companys expansion into Asia.

Started in the U.K. and with offices in Australia and the U.S., the company specializes in rapid entry and verification of addresses for use in marketing. The company often works with local postal authorities to integrate a base of addresses into their software because the post offices maintain high-quality, updated address listings, Parker said.

In addition to promising marketers fewer returned mailings, QAS products reduce the amount of keystrokes needed to key in data by funneling data entered into appropriate address files. For example, by keying in the postal code, the possible apartment and unit number appear. After keying in the required unit number, address input is complete.

The software can also be integrated into larger customer relationship management software including Siebel, Oracle, J.D. Edwards and PeopleSoft CRM packages.

The company plans to be ready to offer the software to businesses after spending six months porting addresses of SingPosts database into the software, according to officials.

The software is part of QAS QuickAddress Batch solution, which also allows businesses to clean their existing address database. Currently, such a software used to clean up 20,000 entries will cost a company about $5,700.
