Altova Inc. has announced a new version of its popular XML development tool, adding new features that make it easier for developers to create customized XML content and data editing applications, the company said.
The Beverly, Mass., company said XMLspy Release 4 promotes increased software and information reusability, which will result in enhanced productivity and lower development costs.
Among the new features of Release 4 is enhanced support for Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning, which is a set of extensions to the HTTP protocol that enables users to better edit and manage XML files on a collaborative basis. Altovas products now feature support for Delta-V, a WebDAV protocol that handles checking in and out of content for editing.
Altova XMLspy Release 4 also includes stylesheet designer enhancements, including global templates, support for conditional statements, and support for PDF header, footer and cover pages.
In addition, the new version features enhanced code generation capabilities, including support for XML binding. The product supports the Xerces XML parser, a standard template library, as well as XML Schema.
