InterWise Inc. is moving beyond the e-learning space into broader “enterprise communications” with the release Monday of its Enterprise Communications Platform, a product that provides audio, video and data sharing services.

The Santa Clara, Calif., company also announced the addition of some collaboration software veterans to its management team. Joining the companys board are former Lotus Development Corp. executive John Landry.

InterWise ECP includes five “modes” of communication including iMentoring for customer support and tutoring, iMeetings for small-group videoconferencing, iClasses for skills training sessions, iSeminars for mass communications to audiences that number in the hundreds, and iCasts for live or on-demand broadcasts audiences in the thousands.

The ECP uses InterWises Expressway communications network, a proprietary network of linked communication servers. The platform is available now.

To help better position itself in collaborative communications applications, InterWise added Landry to its board on Monday. Another former Lotus executive, Jim Manzi, has been a member of InterWises board since May 2000. The company on Monday extended his role to that of “non-executive chairman”. As such, Manzi will take on more responsibilities in guiding the companys direction and growth and advancing InterWises brand recognition.

Landry, now a venture capitalist, is also expected to add his knowledge and strategic guidance to the company, according to InterWise president and CEO Frank Zvi.

“With these two powerful industry leaders, our board and management team are well-armed to lead the market while meeting and exceeding our customers expectations for live and on-demand communications,” said Zvi.
