After a delay of more than a month, Microsoft has taken the covers off Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services. The software makers new business intelligence tool offers users a server-based platform for authoring, managing and delivering Web-based and paper-oriented reports.

SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services features tight integration with SQL Server and Microsofts Windows Server and Visual Studio .Net development environment, according to company officials. The product generates reports in XML for simplified data sharing with other applications, including Microsofts Office Web components.

Changes from the Beta 2 version of Reporting Services to its currently available format include new security extensibility, improved pagination and nine new languages, joined by better scalability.
