Weighing only 1.18 pounds and measuring 5.7 by 4.4 by 1.6 inches, Citizen Americas new PD-24 printer is designed for printing on the go.

The PD-24 portable printer is suited for point-of-sale or point-of-service applications, enabling, for example, mobile retail workers to print receipts of credit card transactions or health care workers to print patient test results.

The printer, priced at $699, includes serial and IrDA infrared interfaces. A Bluetooth-compatible version is available for $949.

The company last week also rolled out a thermal bar-code printer, the CLP-621. Priced at $645, the CLP-621 is an entry-level printer aimed at small and midsize businesses that need to label lower volumes of products, cartons or pallets for shipping.

Both printers are available now.
