Lexmark International last week unveiled three color printers for small workgroups and small to medium-size businesses.

The $699 C510, fueled by a 500MHz processor and 64MB of memory, can print 30 pages per minute in monochrome and 8 ppm in color, according to Lexmark officials. The C510n, which includes 128MB of memory and an internal Ethernet card, costs $999. The C520dtn, which enables two-sided printing and accommodates more paper than the others, is $1,999.

Beta testers George Prie and Douglas Concepcion of the United Nations Population Fund said they were impressed with the quality of the color prints as well as the printers initial warm-up speed: 13 seconds for monochrome prints and 19 seconds for color.

Others were impressed with the printers compact size. At 15 by 9 by 16.5 inches, “it will fit into the kiosks at many of the auto dealerships we work with,” said Lexmark reseller Randy

Carmichael, technical director for platform products at Reynolds & Reynolds.

The printers are set to ship March 22.
