Microsoft announced a deal with Network Associates via which McAfees antivirus and personal-firewall services will be part of the MSN 9 (now called “MSN Premium”) broadband service. MSN Premium is in beta and due to ship “this winter,” which company watchers have interpreted as Q1 2004. In other MSN news, Microsoft is set to begin offering four paid versions of its Hotmail Extra Storage “service” some time this winter, as noted by Neowin. Extra Storage is just one of a number of MSN services that the company is moving from free to paid. To top off a day chock full of MSN news, Microsoft also surprised company watchers and said it plans to extend its partnership with Yahoo-owned Overture Services through June 2005.
