Adobe Pushes Web Tools

Adobe Systems last week introduced AlterCast, image management server software that can dynamically resize and reformat images for Web sites. AlterCast starts at $7,500. The company also announced new versions of Illustrator and InDesign; released a beta version of its Acrobat Reader for Pocket PC, a collaborative site for designers.

Ad Dollars Fall

Internet ad revenue in the U.S. for the first half of 2001 totaled $3.76 billion — 7.8 percent less than the same period last year, according to an Interactive Advertising Bureau study, conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers. Analysts say the online ad market is expected to worsen in light of Sept. 11.

B2B Butler

Search portal Ask Jeeves enterprise division, Jeeves Solutions, is offering JeevesOne, software that lets a companys customers and employees find support information on the Web by phrasing searches in the form of a question. The company previously offered its search technology to businesses only as a service. JeevesOne, which runs on Windows NT or 2000, starts at $100,000.
